Let Go of Fears: Ceremony (Part 2)

I find ritual or ceremony can be very effective to let go of fears.  Set aside a quiet time for yourself where you won’t be disturbed.  If you happen to have an intimate partner, perhaps the ceremony could be done together.  Or maybe you have a close friend or sibling that would like to do the release ceremony as well.

Light a candle while you state the intention of your ceremony.  Whether or not you believe in any particular deity or higher power, you are connected to the universal life force energy that flows around and through each one of us connecting us to a higher collective energy source.  As human beings we are all connected to this source of energy at all times.  This energy flows through our bodies.  For the purpose of ceremony, intentionally state that you are connecting to source.

Breathing in Life Giving Energy

Then take a moment and breathe in deeply a few times.  Feel this energy source flowing through you and around you.  Set out pieces of paper in front of you for each of the positive emotional energies you would like to take into your body in a big way.  With each inhale, feel yourself breathing in love, joy, laughter, wisdom, abundance, patience, compassion, etc. (Pick your own relevant high energy emotions to breathe in – what seems to be lacking?).  With each exhale, feel yourself breathing out worry, fear, anger, resentment, sadness, grief, sorrow, rage, unhappiness, anxiety, etc. (Pick your own relevant energy deadening emotions to breathe out).  Repeat this breath work for a few minutes.

If you are worried or have fears about a particular person, you might like to light a candle to symbolize their inner light as well.  You can then let them know energetically that you intend to let go of fears you have for them.  When you project your fears onto others it has an impact on their wellbeing, and your own, and keeps you both from thriving and taking in life fully.  If you have fears for more than one person, light a candle for each of them.  Remember to be careful about candle safety and light them well away from anything that could catch fire.

The Ceremony

Then make the statement, “I’m ready at this time to release all the worries and fears that I carry in my body.” One idea is to cut up paper into small pieces and then write a fear or worry onto each piece.  You might want to write “all my unconscious fears” on an extra piece of paper and maybe “all my ancestral fears” on another, for all the fears you can’t name.  Once you have created an exhaustive pile of worries and fears, and remember to go back into your own life to gather the fears that lurk from the past, and any fears around any children you may have, then once again take a moment and breathe in deeply.  Take all these pieces of paper in your hands and hold them up to the universe to be taken away.  Ask that they be lifted from your shoulders and cleansed from the cells of your body.

Breathing in Life Giving Energy

With each inhale, feel yourself breathing in love, joy, laughter, wisdom, abundance, patience, and compassion.  With each exhale, feel yourself breathing out worry, fear, anger, resentment, sadness, grief, sorrow, rage, unhappiness, and anxiety. Repeat this breath work for a few minutes.

Let Go of Fears

Perhaps you might like to state, “I release myself from the grips of fear and worry,” and if you have children, “I release my tight grip of fear from around the chests of my children.”  (This is relevant whether your children are two or thirty.)  This is very important if your children have any respiratory conditions like asthma or allergies, but nonetheless important anyways.

As mothers, whatever was going on for us emotionally while we were carrying our children in utero, whether we felt supported or not, whether we wanted this child, or whether we had fears about being pregnant (this can be unconscious if a parent or ancestor lost a child too early, such as in childbirth or infancy).  Whatever happened to emotionally impact us before or after our pregnancies, all of this needs to be released from the lives of our children.  Our babies pick up everything that is impacting us emotionally until they are a few years old.

Releasing the Energy of Fear

Then you need to decide how to dissipate all the unhealthy emotional energy you have been storing within your body.  Some people burn the papers, some seal them up tight in a little container or decorative box and even put a lock on it, some freeze them, and some bury them to be revitalized with the positive energy of Mother Earth.  Choose whatever method seems meaningful to you, but take safety precautions if you are burning them.  When your ceremony feels complete, blow out the candle and thank the universal life force energy for taking away all your fears and worries.

Moving Forward without Fears

Now it’s time to take meaningful action to let go of fears and worries.  Ask the universal collective energy source to help you with this if you find it difficult.  Day by day you need to change your way of being.  The ceremony will reach your deep inner spirit or soul to begin the transitional movement toward wellness.  Develop a list of self-soothing things to do if you feel fear or worry rising within you.  Begin by breathing in love and joy and breathing out fear and worry.  Do this several times.  What can you do in the moment to let go of fears or worry so you don’t take it into your body?  A cup of tea, a warm bath with quiet music playing, curl up with a good book, go for a walk in a park, or write in your journal.  Do whatever suits you in the moment.

Let go of fears and worries to transform your world.  They may be holding you back from enjoying life to the fullest.  Think of something that you have always wanted to do but fears and worry have held you back – then do it.
